Can you remember when Christmas was so simple that one Santa Claus could work an entire town?

The myth of Santa Claus is a wonderful way to convey a sense of universal love to children. Just because there isn't a real person called Santa Claus with a long white beard doesn't mean that sharing this myth with children is bad. It has a sense of wonder that fits our dreams and hopes. It conveys a sense of love, caring, and joy that both children and adults cherish. Eventually, of course, children come to realize that the bearded Santa Claus can't be real. Usually adults are more concerned about the disappointment this revelation may cause than it is traumatic for growing minds that are naturally expanding their knowledge of the world anyway. Adult forms of love, caring and joy are pretty wonderful too! Children eventually come to see that Santa Claus represents a spirit in all of us, and the love and joy in our own hearts is what makes the celebration of Santa Claus real for us.

No doubt about it, Santa is old fashioned. He is also an individualist. He goes his own way. He doesn't obey airport tower controllers or customs officials.

"Is Santa Claus, dare we say it, a conservative?", FOX News, December 19, 2016
Of course Santa is dead, you force a guy to eat a billion cookies in one night, what do you think is going to happen?
JIMMY KIMMEL
Jimmy Kimmel Live, October 5, 2017
To say there is no Santa Claus is the most erroneous statement in the world. Santa Claus is a thought that is passed from generation to generation. After time this thought takes on a human form. Maybe if all children and adults understand the symbolism of this thought we can actually attain Peace on Earth and good will to men everywhere.
CHARLES W. HOWARD
"Santa Claus Oath"
The whole concept of some stranger making his way down our chimney -- not that we had one -- suggested burglary more readily than generosity. Any Santa who tried it would have gotten a bullet in his holly, jolly keister.

Of Christmas Present
I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night
She didn't see me creep
Down the stairs to have a peek
She thought that I was tucked up
In my bedroom fast asleep
Then, I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus
Underneath his beard so snowy white
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
If Daddy had only seen
Mommy kissing Santa Claus last night

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies!
FRANCIS PHARCELLUS CHURCH
"Is There a Santa Claus", The New York Sun, September 21, 1897
Alas! How dreary would be the world if there was no Santa Claus!... There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence.
FRANCIS P. CHURCH

God put Santa Claus on earth to remind us that Christmas is 'sposed to be a happy time.

Christmas is always a problem to the man who has to convince his kids that there is a Santa Claus, and his wife that there isn't.

Ho, ho, ho
Santa's comin' back, around
So get ready
Christmastime is my favorite part of the year
'Cause ah, there's a lot of love in the air
And holiday cheer

"Santa's comin' baka round"
The myth of Santa has grown to gigantic proportions. He is able to know all, to judge each and every child, to make reindeer fly and do all these things at the North Pole! Obviously Santa has slowly taken the place of God, doing things which only God can do. Unfortunately, this "god" is a legalistic "god," dispensing gifts only upon those who deserve them.

Santa Claus: Is He For Your Child?
God is Santa Claus for Grown-Ups.
OLIVER MARKUS
Oliver's Strange Journey
Just think about it: Santa Claus is an imaginary figure who lives in the North Pole with no visible means of support. He is a 300 pound man who is supposed to be able to descend through a narrow chimney flue with a sack of toys on his back as a reward to good boys and girls. Someone has noted that Santa Claus flies in a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer led by Rudolph with his nasal nightlight. At least Santa has fairly nonpolluting transportation.
WILLIAM H. GODDARD
Just Say the Words
Ultimately, Santa is here to teach us about giving unconditionally. That's why he visits so many children. But when kids get older they don't need him as much because they have already learned the lesson and have started giving to others just as Santa gave to them.

"Dad told me there is no Santa Claus. Is that true, Mom?", Chicago Now, December 19, 2016
We all ought to understand we're on our own. Believing in Santa Claus doesn't do kids any harm for a few years but it isn't smart for them to continue waiting all their lives for him to come down the chimney with something wonderful. Santa Claus and God are cousins.
ANDY ROONEY
Sincerely, Andy Rooney
I'm a middle-aged man and I still 100% believe in the power of Santa Claus. Those who don't should find something more important to worry about, rather than trying to spoil the fun for billions of children and adults.
PADRAIG COLLINS
"Santa Claus is a phenomenal imagination driver. Leave him alone", The Guardian, November 30, 2016
The devil has a demon,
His name is Santa Claus.
He's a dirty old demon
Because of last year's flaws.
He promised Jack a yo-yo,
And Jill a diamond ring.
They woke up on Christmas morning
Without a single thing ...
One day they'll stand before God
Without their bag of tricks.
Without their red-nosed reindeer
Or their phony old Saint Nicks;
For Revelation twenty-one,
Verse eight, tells where they'll go:
Condemned to everlasting hell,
Where they'll be no Ho! Ho! Ho!
