VAMPIRE QUOTES III

quotations about vampires

Vampire quote

I am a secret vampire
and nobody knows but me.
I descend upside-down castle walls
and take hemoglobin with tea.
I wander the waiting graveyard wastes,
howling in blood-inspired revelry.
I hear how my howls are picked up by the owls
and carried far outward to sea.

How do we seem to you? Do you find us beautiful, magical? Our white skin, our fierce eyes? "Drink" you ask me, do you have any idea of the thing you will become?

ANNE RICE

Interview with the Vampire

Eating animals by humans is thought to be as natural as sucking blood is for vampires. The argument is quite explicit: "Do what it is your nature to do," argues Lestat: "This is but a taste of it. Do what it is your nature to do." This claim seems to sum up the dilemma of both vampires like Louis and mortal vegetarians like myself who would rather live without killing. Are we not simply opposing the nature of things as given, or indeed our own natures? Are not non-blood-sucking vampires and non-meat-eating humans similarly anomalous in the history of our respective species? Is it not true that both are seemingly incapable of facing the world as it is without emotion or moral squint?

Vampirism is clinically known as Renfield's Syndrome, which in layman's terms means to have a compulsion to drink blood. Those with Renfield's Syndrome often link blood with excitement as a child, which eventually leads to sexual arousal after puberty.

"Real Vampires Do Exist: Thirst For Blood Is Real But Not What You Think", Inquisitr, April 26, 2016

I think the vampire represents somebody who's transcended time and transformed himself into an immortal and becomes like a dark saint--a being with all the powers that transcend the corruptible. He represents the longing for immortality and freedom. Admitting that can be quite beautiful.

Vampiric entities -- by which I mean monsters or undead that suck their victims' blood or life-force -- appear in pretty much every culture, across every continent.

No vampire to my knowledge has died of natural causes, we generally regard ourselves as immortal. That is to say we are not subject to mortal frailties and disease and without intervention go on living. At 3000 years old, how much longer do I have to wait to find out if that is correct?

To the jaded eye, all vampires seem alike, but they are wonderful in their versatility. Some come to life in moonlight, others are killed by the sun, some pierce with their eyes, others with fangs, some are reactionary, others are rebels, but all are disturbingly close to the mortals they prey on. I can think of no other monsters who are so receptive. Vampires are neither inhuman nor non-human nor all-too-human, they are simply more alive than they should be.

NINA AUERBACH

Our Vampires, Ourselves

The Archetype is strong upon the vampire awakening
You revel in all your newfound strengths
You hear music, but it's not the angels that sing
The thunderous sound of leathery wings

Depending on which culture you're investigating -- and even the time period -- the methods for creating vampires vary wildly. Vampires could arise from something as simple as a dog leaping over a corpse or due to a transgression against the church. Options for fighting vampires also run the gamut, everything from the familiar garlic and holy water to methods that appear unusual to our modern eyes, such as leaving out seeds or grains that the monster would be compelled to count.

You look like the vamp who bled the cat.

Look at your reflection in the mirror. You're a creature of the night Michael, just like out of a comic book! You're a vampire Michael! My own brother, a god***n, sh*t-sucking vampire. You wait 'till mom finds out, buddy!

SAM EMERSON

Vampires always order hot drinks. They aren't going to drink them; but they can feel the warmth and smell them if they're hot, and that is so good.

The reason people use a crucifix against vampires is because vampires are allergic to bullsh*t.

The vampire's eyes were open, and he was staring at her intently. It was as though he were trying to speak to her with simply the power of a glare. Alexia did not speak glare-ish.

Vampires can live a very long time, theoretically forever, which means their idea of getting down to business can be damn leisurely.

And if the sun comes up will it tear the skin right off our bones
And then as razor sharp white teeth rip out our necks I saw you there
Someone get me to the doctor, someone get me to a church
Where they can pump this venom gaping hole
And you must keep your soul like a secret in your throat
And if they come and get me
What if you put the spike in my heart?

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE

"Vampires Will Never Hurt You"

Vampires are real. They're usually not the cape-wearing, "mwah-hah-hah-ing" types, but rather people with ordinary jobs who just happen to consume blood.

MARISSA FESSENDEN

"Real-life Vampires Exist, but They Are Scared to Admit Their Practices to Doctors", Smithsonian Magazine, July 10, 2015

Living somewhat apart from human society, vampires are not burdened with the conventions of heterosexual or homosexual. We admire physical beauty in all its forms.

REBEKA HARRINGTON

Vampires Revealed

But first, on earth as vampire sent,
Thy corpse shall from its tomb be rent,
Then ghastly haunt thy native place,
And suck the blood of all thy race;
There from thy daughter, sister, wife,
At midnight drain the stream of life;
Yet loathe the banquet which perforce
Must feed thy livid living corpse.
